GOING BACK TO CALI - The National Women's Golf Association has formed a strategic partnership with the Southern California PGA to continue to provide aspiring female professionals and amateurs with the opportunity to play competitive golf in the state of California. According to Scott Walker, President of the NWGA, "This is a wonderful opportunity for the west coast players. In 2016, we implemented a Winter schedule in the Southern California region and the response was better than expected to be quite honest. After speaking with several of the west coast players, we decided to continue the venture heading into 2017. There are just so many players in the state of California, and it is an honor and a privilege to partner with the Southern California Section of the PGA to offer these players more opportunity."
The California Series will kick off January 10-12, and the remainder of the schedule will consists of twelve events running January through May. The terms of the agreement between the NWGA and the SCPGA is that the SCPGA will handle all on site tournament operations, including course set-up and rules officiating, and the NWGA will handle the administrative side of the event(s), including processing all entries, purse distributions, etc.
